What are Talk, Exhibitions & Parades?
What is it about a wedding that brings a smile to your face as you remember that special day? more...
A Cavalcade parade is a unique opportunity to see gowns as they were meant to be worn. Elegant empire lines, swishing crinolines, beautiful bustles, flirtatious flappers - right up until the New Look as defined by Christian Dior. And let’s not forget the history of each gown that has been named after the original wearer. Where possible, Cavalcade will include local history into the commentary, making a parade most memorable experience.
Cavalcade’s Talk series allows an intimate look at treasures from the collection as well as insights into how life was lived in the past 200 years as well as showing us the influence that fashion has had on history. By their very nature, Cavalcade talks are more interactive, allowing the audience a much closer look at the items presented. All of our talks last approximately one hour and follow a similar format and presentation. The atmosphere is relaxed – one person talks and her assistants move among the audience with exhibits so that everyone has a close look at the beautiful items.
Cavalcades vast collection enables use to tailor an exhibition to an organisations specific needs. From wedding gowns to tennis dresses, Cavalcade can evoke images of times gone by and even show us that through fashion, history does repeat itself. A Cavalcade exhibition can be made up of one or two items or up to 100 items.
Cavalcade has set up many exhibitions in historic houses such as Carisbrook in Lane Cove and Don Bank in North Sydney. Cavalcade is lucky to have a permanent exhibition space in one of the glass cabinets at the Gordon Library, which is changed on a month basis. During heritage week, Cavalcade prepares a display for a shop in Turramurra.
Cavalcade welcomes opportunities to exhibit our unique collection. If you would like to host a Cavalcade Exhibition, please contact us. Go to top
